BLACK PRESIDENT SET TO HIT THE ROAD WITH BOUNCING SOULS
DRUMMER DAVE RAUN JOINS BAND AS FULLTIME PLAYER
DEBUT CD OUT NOW ON COBRA MUSIC
“BLACK PRESIDENT is a band founded on the belief that the human race is angry, greedy, simple & ugly. We believe in educating ourselves, treating the world & people around us with the same respect we would take from it. We are not “politically correct”, we’re just not ignorant”. Black President self-titled debut out now on Cobra Music.
After filling in as guest drummer on dates with TSOL Dave Raun will be joining the band full time replacing drummer Roy Mayorga. “Dave is a badass… We stayed at his house when our van broke down in Fresno on the Warped Tour and it just clicked. He came in, killed it on the TSOL tour, and has brought a whole new energy to the band. Roy is an old friend and amazing drummer who will definitely be missed. We wish him all the best and there are no hard feelings. Losing Roy for Dave is a quality problem that we can’t really complain about! We can’t wait to hit the road again in April.” States Christian Martucci

Skarhead was founded in 1995 by Lord Ezec and released the EP “Drugs, Money, Sex” that same year.

“Drugs, Music and Sex” is recorded and mixed by Dean Baltulonis (Sick Of It All, Madball, Agnostic Front) and produced by Lord Ezec. Hoods sign worldwide deal with I Scream Records
I Scream Records is very proud to welcome Hoods to the family.
Hoods founded in Sacramento, CA, in 1995 by Mike Hoods have grown into a Hardcore institution. Their music is a call to arms for all of those who have grown tired watching Hardcore be exploited and bastardized. Mike Hood has used his years of experience to craft one of the most brutal and honest West Coast Hardcore bands ever.
Hoods have released several albums on a number of independents and now the long-awaited new album “Pit Beast” is set for release in May 2009.
“14 years and we’re still here. Still playing Hardcore, still having fun and bringing the mosh. I had no idea when I started Hoods if we would even last a year. With so many ups and many more downs we definitely made our mark. Not only for West Coast Hardcore but all over the world. I live, eat and breathe this music”. Mike Hood
Laurens says: “We are excited to join forces with Hoods in the year I Scream Records is celebrating its 15th anniversary. They’re one of the hardest working bands out there and a great addition to our roster”
Hoods are on tour in North America in April 2009 and will invade Europe in May 2009. Make sure to check ’em out at a venue near you.
It’s the Fourth Coming of the Ska Is Dead Tour (http://www.skaisdead.com/), and there are signs that the resurrection is keeping. Marking a return of the all-ska tour after a three-year hiatus, SID4 is bringing ass-shaking good times to an all-ages venue near you RIGHT NOW (see site for tour dates). Saturday’s 6 hour set from 5 great bands proved SID founder Dave Kirchgessner’s posit: Ska is anything but dead.

In case anyone is still alive, next month will be the 10 year anniversary of upstarter.com … that’s a long freakin’ time to be runnin’ a long con on the music industry. They send me stuff and I spew out some bogus opinion about it. Hell’s Yes! I rule! … Never the less, next month I will be re-issuing ancient reviews from 1999. I suspect that it’ll be a pandemonium like Y2K all over again. Hooray!
The Shirts for a Cure Project is proud to announce this year’s SXSW day party will feature The Bouncing Souls, Dillinger Four, Darkest Hour, The A.K.A.’s and Ruiner. Back in Studio for Fourth Album
Open for Michael Franti & Spearhead
Selected to Join Flogging Molly’s Green 17 Tour
“The Aggrolites are one of the most unique bands out there today. In an era where way too many groups sound the same, it’s nice to have a group that is like a breath of fresh air. Their tunes can turn any bad day into a good one and their lyrics will have you singing along in no time.” – Quinnipiac Chronicle (Oct. 2008)
The Aggrolites have returned to the studio to craft their fourth full-length album and follow-up to the acclaimed Reggae Hit L.A. (Hellcat Records). Recording at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles, and scheduled for release in May 2009, the new album is guaranteed to deliver even more of their signature hard-hitting, soul-infused reggae.
The Aggrolites join socially conscious roots rockers Michael Franti & Spearhead at the new Club Nokia at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on January 31. Poet, musician and composer, Franti blends hip-hop, funk and reggae together with his outspoken political and progressive lyrics, and has gone on to become a worldwide million-selling artist and a leader in the peace and social justice movement. This show is part of Michael Franti & Spearhead’s 2009 Hey World Tour in support of All Rebel Rockers (Anti- Records), their first Top 40 album. This is the debut pairing of these two truly progressive bands with equally diverse and devoted fan bases. www.spearheadvibrations.com

For Los Angeles-based punk band Black President, all it took was one song, penned by guitarist and founder Charlie Paulson and titled “Last F__king Hope,” to detonate a musical explosion. Black President self-titled debut out now on Cobra Music.
“With Black President, a hot hard band with attitude AND a message, Paulson’s finally found a perfect fit”
–My Fox LA
After finishing up a successful trek on the Vans Warped Tour 08 and a stint of hometown dates Black President is gearing up for a full national tour with TSOL kicking off January 23, 2009 in Pomona, CA.
“The journey that Black President takes you on is full of twists and turns that any roller coaster designer would be proud of”
The buzz continues to grow as the band recently garnered a featured artist spot on myspace music and an appearance on Dave Navarro’s SpreadTV on maniaTV:
It has been a long time since a punk rock band with something to really say about the status of the world we live in has come along and shaken the foundations of the scene
