Death Lens Return With New Single “Power”

“…catchy riffs and an authentic punk attitude that’s both nostalgic and refreshing.” – Knotfest

“…backed by infectious vocal harmonies, heavy punk drumbeats, and fuzzed shoegaze-leaning guitar melodies.” – Remezcla

Today, Los Angeles alt-punks Death Lens, the self-described “Brown boys from La Puente“, let loose on new single “Power”. Fresh off a tour with Militarie Gun, the punchy new single is up next to be featured in the latest edition of the Skate video game series from EA. As Death Lens’ first new music since 2024’s Cold World, the track’s hooky guitar riffs and uplifting lyrics are a positive omen to close out a tumultuous year. Frontman Bryan Torres comments:

I know the world feels out of balance, nothing seems certain, and waiting isn’t an option anymore. We can’t let time dictate our choices or our purpose. The world has never waited for anyone, so we stopped waiting too. That’s POWER. Strength. Resilience. When life feels bleak, we push harder for what we want and the vision we hold for ourselves. A song for anyone who loves it fast, with a message that lifts you up.”

Check out the music video for “Power” below, directed by Marco Hernandez and featuring pro skaters Zach Allen, Ethan Loy, Tyler Pacheco, Marley Humphrey and O’Connor Nelson.

“Power”
WATCH | LISTEN

Following the rhythmic bark of Cold World, a poignant album that deals with social and political unrest, Death Lens continue to bear the torch for Southern California’s melodic punk tinged with hardcore and social accountability. “Power” is the latest offering in their ever-evolving journey as a band and as people, confronting burnout and feeling like you can’t get up after you’ve been consistently knocked down. Nevertheless, Torres proclaims, “the world waits for no one” and compels listeners to get back on our feet and look out for one another.

Since 2012, Death Lens have aimed to be in your ears at all times. They hide their ferocity underneath a thick veneer of style until the energy and chaos of one of their live shows leaves every audience member disarmed and forever changed. While they started as your typical party garage punks, the band evolved to using their platform to speak on living in heavily policed areas, immigration reform, and using resources to uplift communities. “One world, one community“.

Death Lens is comprised of Bryan Torres (vocals), Jhon Reyes (guitar, backing vocals), Tony Rangel (drums), and Ernie Gutierrez (guitar).

Simple Minded Symphony – Feather (Official Video)

The song “Feather” is about experiencing burn out as a creator against the routine of working to pay the bills. In the music video, an artist going about his routine is followed around by members of the band who take the scraps of his crumpled thrown up artwork to have a fight with the balled up artwork like snowballs. The video is warm and fun, much like the progressive groove matched with the earnest lyrics.

The video was directed by vocalist/bassist, Kevin Silveira. “Feather” features the artwork of Melon Bobby instagram.com/melonbobby Simple Minded Symphony will be available on all streaming platforms Tuesday, August 22. Vinyl pre-orders begin today at Ska Punk International: skapunkinternational.com

Video Premiere – Is It You? – The Witch and The Burro

An eerie tale of time travel and (possible) mistaken identity, “is it you” is a duet by The Witch and The Burro. The duo – comprised of Vic Ruggiero and lauren napier – filmed the spooky scenes in a haunted house in Baker City, OR. In between tour dates and plague pauses, they search for ghost towns amongst desert landscapes. “Is It You?” captures that feeling in both spirit and narrative.

So join the fortune teller and the wolf man, the witch and the burro…. They will embark on a tour – yet to be formally announced – in the new year, so keep an eye out. Lauren has just released The Mourning Moon Hangs Quietly – an intimate live recording offered on cassette by This and That Tapes. Vic is on the road with his band, The Slackers, (possibly) coming to a town near you.

PHILADELPHIA PUNK BAND NOW ON NATIONAL HEADLINE TOUR

Today marks the premiere of the video for “After the Party,” the title track from The Menzingers’ latest album. The Philadelphia punk band’s fifth full-length, After the Party was released last month to much critical acclaim.

Directed by Kyle Thrash, “After the Party” unfolds as a frenetic short film following a young couple through Dairy Queen parking lots, trashed apartments, house parties, motel rooms, pool halls, and rooftops. The video’s gritty yet romantic sensibility perfectly captures the spirit of the song—a bittersweet anthem that Menzingers singer/guitarist Greg Barnett has described as “mundane moments etched behind eyelids that culminate into meaningful realizations, and of course give way to the beautiful trifecta of Sex! Drugs! Rock n Roll!”

Watch the video for “After the Party” here:

Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Balance & Composure, Pianos Become the Teeth), After the Party offers a raw yet nuanced look at getting older but not quite growing up. In a five-star review, Blurt praised the album as “one of the best punk records you’ll hear this year.” Also hailing After the Party as the band’s best album to date, Blurt noted that The Menzingers “have been progressively growing from their fiery, aggressive earlier years into something more reflective and introspective, while never compromising energy or attitude.”

SAVE FERRIS DEBUT VIDEO FOR “NEW SOUND”

[ad]

February 6, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA – Influential Orange County ska-punk band SAVE FERRIS will release their first record in 17 years, Checkered Past, on February 10th via WITHYN Records. In anticipation, the band has teamed up with PasteMagazine.comto premiere a new video for their hot new single “New Sound.” Fans can pre-order the new EP now at iTunes and Amazon.
Watch the video for “New Sound” now, exclusively at PasteMagazine.com:

Speaking with PasteMagazine.com, Save Ferris’ frontwoman Monique Powell says “Filming this video was so much fun because it was literally a house party with our friends. Directing the video was my dear friend Piper Ferguson. I have wanted to do a video with Piper for years but because Piper typically does such high budget productions, I was afraid she might say no. Fortunately this is a situation in which having good friends that are incredibly talented comes in handy. You can truly tell this was a passion project for her. Having Angelo Moore (Fishbone, Angelo Moore and the Brand New Step) there was a given, as we always have so much fun together. The only person missing was Nev, he flew in his parts from the UK.”
The music video for “New Sound” opens at a lame house party that suddenly becomes an epic throwdown with the assistance of Save Ferris. The video features a cameo by Fishbone’s Angelo Moore and a vocal/cameo by Neville Staple, former vocalist for the legendary 2 tone ska band The Specials.
The video comes just days before the release of Save Ferris long-awaited new EP, Checkered Past, and their headline North American tour, which kicks off Friday with support from Vista Kicks (West Coast dates) and Baby Baby (East Coast dates).
