I Scream Records releases Hoods’ “Pit Beast”

I Scream Records releases Hoods “Pit Beast” on June 9th in the US!
One of the most brutal and honest West Coast Hardcore bands ever!!

This record is a must for any hard music fan, featuring 11 brutal, heart felt songs. The music is a call to arms for all those who have grown tired watching Hardcore be exploited and bastardized.

Hoods are a Hardcore institution formed by Mike Hood in 1995. Since that day the band has built a legacy that has outlasted the fakes and pretenders who have infiltrated the Hardcore scene.

Hoods have toured North America and Europe many times and can be considered as one of the hardest working bands out there. They’re on tour in the US right now and will invade Europe in May ’09. So look for Hoods at a festival or club near you soon!!

Black President Hits The Road

BLACK PRESIDENT SET TO HIT THE ROAD WITH BOUNCING SOULS

DRUMMER DAVE RAUN JOINS BAND AS FULLTIME PLAYER

DEBUT CD OUT NOW ON COBRA MUSIC

“BLACK PRESIDENT is a band founded on the belief that the human race is angry, greedy, simple & ugly. We believe in educating ourselves, treating the world & people around us with the same respect we would take from it. We are not “politically correct”, we’re just not ignorant”. Black President self-titled debut out now on Cobra Music.

After filling in as guest drummer on dates with TSOL Dave Raun will be joining the band full time replacing drummer Roy Mayorga. “Dave is a badass… We stayed at his house when our van broke down in Fresno on the Warped Tour and it just clicked. He came in, killed it on the TSOL tour, and has brought a whole new energy to the band. Roy is an old friend and amazing drummer who will definitely be missed. We wish him all the best and there are no hard feelings. Losing Roy for Dave is a quality problem that we can’t really complain about! We can’t wait to hit the road again in April.” States Christian Martucci

Happy Aniversary

In case anyone is still alive, next month will be the 10 year anniversary of upstarter.com … that’s a long freakin’ time to be runnin’ a long con on the music industry. They send me stuff and I spew out some bogus opinion about it. Hell’s Yes! I rule! … Never the less, next month I will be re-issuing ancient reviews from 1999. I suspect that it’ll be a pandemonium like Y2K all over again. Hooray!

Stay Tuned

The Aggrolites

Back in Studio for Fourth Album
Open for Michael Franti & Spearhead
Selected to Join Flogging Molly’s Green 17 Tour

“The Aggrolites are one of the most unique bands out there today. In an era where way too many groups sound the same, it’s nice to have a group that is like a breath of fresh air. Their tunes can turn any bad day into a good one and their lyrics will have you singing along in no time.” – Quinnipiac Chronicle (Oct. 2008)

The Aggrolites have returned to the studio to craft their fourth full-length album and follow-up to the acclaimed Reggae Hit L.A. (Hellcat Records). Recording at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles, and scheduled for release in May 2009, the new album is guaranteed to deliver even more of their signature hard-hitting, soul-infused reggae.

The Aggrolites join socially conscious roots rockers Michael Franti & Spearhead at the new Club Nokia at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on January 31. Poet, musician and composer, Franti blends hip-hop, funk and reggae together with his outspoken political and progressive lyrics, and has gone on to become a worldwide million-selling artist and a leader in the peace and social justice movement. This show is part of Michael Franti & Spearhead’s 2009 Hey World Tour in support of All Rebel Rockers (Anti- Records), their first Top 40 album. This is the debut pairing of these two truly progressive bands with equally diverse and devoted fan bases. www.spearheadvibrations.com
