NEW QUICKSAND ALBUM INTERIORS TO BE RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 10 ON EPITAPH

SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “ILLUMINANT” TODAY

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES ON SALE NOW

New York City post-hardcore band Quicksand are pleased to announce the upcoming release of Interiors, their first album in 22 years. Interiors features the band’s original (and only) lineup of drummer Alan Cage, frontman/guitarist Walter Schreifels, bassist Sergio Vega, and guitarist Tom Capone. The album will be released on November 10 on Epitaph.

Quicksand have also shared a new video for the first song shared off the album titled “Illuminant,” the lead single and opening track from Interiors.

Watch the video for “Illuminat” now: https://youtu.be/xgIJatX2uug

With its heavy but melodic guitar lines, intense rhythms, and emotionally charged lyrics, “Illuminant” shows the scope of Quicksand’s influence on post-hardcore and indie-rock bands over the last two decades.

Recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Interiorswas produced and engineered by Will Yip (The Menzingers, Title Fight, Pianos Become the Teeth). While the album finds Quicksand embracing the cathartic, guitar-driven dynamic of their earlier work, Interiors also takes on a wider spectrum of sound.

“It was all just about being ourselves and who we were as well as who we are,” says Schreifels of the making of Interiors. “We did it for us completely.”

Pre-orders for Interiors are at: http://www.quicksandnyc.com

Formed in 1990, Quicksand made their full-length debut with Slip—a 1993 release recently praised by The A.V. Club as “a nearly flawless record that combines the irony and heaviness of Helmet with Fugazi’s penchant to dismantle sound in the most energetic ways.” Arriving in 1995, their sophomore album Manic Compressionappeared at #1 on the Top Five Best Post-Hardcore Records list from LA Weekly (who noted that “if there were any justice in the world, Quicksand would have been the biggest underground band of the ’90s”).

“We were very influenced by Fugazi and Jane’s Addiction” says Schreifels of the band’s beginnings. “But we were doing it in a certain context with an energy that was just special and unique and kind of shined through.”

Throughout the early ’90s, Quicksand toured with bands like Helmet, Fugazi, Rage Against the Machine, and Anthrax. After disbanding in late 1995, they reunited for a one-night performance in June 2012. They’ve since appeared at festivals like FYF Fest and Pukkelpop, and in 2013 embarked on their first North American tour in 15 years.

Additionally, Quicksand will tour North American this fall; tickets on sale now.

MU330 – Don’t Worry Don’t Stress

A great new track by the legendary MU330:

Don’t Worry Don’t Stress

“MU330 rejects the violence and hate speech of alt right nazis in Charlottesville. White supremacy must be stomped out and uprooted from this country. Let’s throw these tired ideas in the garbage once and for all. There should be no safe space anywhere on the political spectrum for a group of people that advocate genocide, anti-Semitism, and the oppression of minorities. As a country, we need to stop defending such vile behavior. This has to stop, and our president must be held accountable for defending such hateful ideology. Are you thinking, “wait, I’m a conservative and I’m not a racist!”? That’s great! The good news is that you can be a conservative while rejecting nazis and a racist president that defends them.

100% of all donations from downloading this new MU330 tune will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Peace, MU330″

RANCID’S NEW ALBUM ‘TROUBLE MAKER’ OUT NOW

Rancid’s ninth studio album Trouble Maker is now in stores. Trouble Maker was produced by Rancid’s longtime producer and founder of Epitaph Records, Brett Gurewitz. Watch previously released videos of the band performing singles “Telegraph Avenue” and “Ghost of a Chance” or head over to Rancid’s YouTube channel for more performance videos from every song on the album!

Listen to Trouble Maker now:

Emerging from the blue-collar swamps of Berkeley, California, Rancid has now been a living, breathing punk rock band for over a quarter century. Back in 1991, after the demise of their much beloved first band, Operation Ivy, founding members Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar) and Matt Freeman (bass, vocals) decided to do the impossible — start an even better band. Thus, Rancid. Signing with Epitaph Records, the band released their first album Rancid in 1993. Shortly thereafter, Lars Frederiksen (vocals, guitar) joined the band, because… well, are you going to tell him he can’t? The result, in 1994, was Let’s Go.

In 1995, Rancid released the classic platinum selling …And Out Come The Wolves. You still remember when you first heard it. They followed with the even more ambitious Life Won’t Wait in 1998, and in 2000, Rancid released another album entitled Rancid, just to see if anyone was paying attention. After Indestructible in 2003, Branden Steineckert (drums) joined to solidify Rancid’s current line-up. They subsequently released the albums Let The Dominos Fall (2009) and Honor Is All We Know (2014).

Through it all, Rancid has remained fiercely independent, never losing their loyalty to community or each other. Their music confronts political and social issues, while balancing personal tales of love, loss, and heartbreak with attitude. Rancid gives their listeners a community where everyone can belong. By carrying on the traditions and spirit of the original punk rock bands that came before, Rancid has become a legend an inspiration to punk bands that have come after.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys will be co-headlining From Boston To Berkeley Tour, kicking off July 27 in Bangor, ME and wrapping August 26 in Southern California. THE MENZINGERS SHARE VIDEO FOR “AFTER THE PARTY”

PHILADELPHIA PUNK BAND NOW ON NATIONAL HEADLINE TOUR

Today marks the premiere of the video for “After the Party,” the title track from The Menzingers’ latest album. The Philadelphia punk band’s fifth full-length, After the Party was released last month to much critical acclaim.

Directed by Kyle Thrash, “After the Party” unfolds as a frenetic short film following a young couple through Dairy Queen parking lots, trashed apartments, house parties, motel rooms, pool halls, and rooftops. The video’s gritty yet romantic sensibility perfectly captures the spirit of the song—a bittersweet anthem that Menzingers singer/guitarist Greg Barnett has described as “mundane moments etched behind eyelids that culminate into meaningful realizations, and of course give way to the beautiful trifecta of Sex! Drugs! Rock n Roll!”

Watch the video for “After the Party” here:

Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Balance & Composure, Pianos Become the Teeth), After the Party offers a raw yet nuanced look at getting older but not quite growing up. In a five-star review, Blurt praised the album as “one of the best punk records you’ll hear this year.” Also hailing After the Party as the band’s best album to date, Blurt noted that The Menzingers “have been progressively growing from their fiery, aggressive earlier years into something more reflective and introspective, while never compromising energy or attitude.”

WEAK13 release new music video for “Obey The Slave

British underground post punk band WEAK13 have released a new music video for their song “Obey The Slave” from their 2016 album They Live. The music video was filmed in a real English magistrates court and revolves around a theme of law and order. The song raises questions about authority and activism with thought provoking lyrics and proudly shouts “Don’t start a revolution. Have a revelation and share. Wake up”. Check out the video below.

The band is currently preparing to record their second as yet untitled studio album with producer John Stewart at FrEQ in Coventry, England. Speaking to the website, frontman and guitarist Nick J Townsend revealed “We were so impressed with the engineering by Stewart on the They Live album; it’s important news that we’ll be able to work with him again and we know already that he’ll do the new material the justice it deserves”. The They Live album contains the song “Obey The Slave” and is only available from weak13official.com

WEAK13 – OBEY THE SLAVE

JOHN FRUM: Mysterious New Project Announced from Current and Former Members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Faceless, John Zorn, etc.

A Stirring In The Noos Coming this May via Relapse Records.

February 15, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA – This is February 15, John Frum Day. On this day, cult followers from all over the island of Tanna in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu come to the village of Lamakara at Sulfa Bay to march, raise their flags and celebrate their esoteric way of life. This is also the day that the patron saints of altered states known as John Frum reveal to the world the first glimpse into their chronicle of auditory disturbances. Indulge your senses HERE.
Consisting of current and formers members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Faceless, John Zorn and many other renowned projects, John Frum have been fermenting their bedeviled broth in the clandestine corners of their collective consciousness since 11.11.11. Like a planchette moved by the presence of subtle energies, John Frum functions as a medium for malefic musings.
Existing at the intersections of perception, superstition, intoxication, ritual, rhetoric, metaphysics and mystical experience, John Frum welcome in the golden age of musical enlightenment with their first manifesto, A Stirring in the Noos. Nearly 6 years in the making, John Frum’s unorthodox debut maneuvers through 40 minutes of darkly psychedelic and meticulously crafted death metal, the backdrop of a bad trip. A Stirring in the Noos is a dismal distillation of oneiric transmissions, an aural reliquary of mis-shapen manifestations, and a totem to modern primitivism in heavy music. A Stirring in the Noos will see it’s release this May via Relapse Records.
John Frum borrows its name from a relatively isolated group of natives in the South Pacific islands, known as a Cargo Cult, who first used the alias John Frum as a means to reject European ways, escape oppressive missionaries, and return to their old traditions. The narrative changed, during the war in the 1940s, to reflect their encounters with thousands of American soldiers who spectacularly descended on that region by sea and air with crates of wartime materials dropped from the sky, known as “Cargo.” These events drastically changed the beliefs and lifestyle of the islanders as they took the soldiers and their offerings to be god-like, as they descended from the heavens.
Alt-religious narratives induced by these encounters were incongruent with islanders’ long-held beliefs, yet the natives could not deny the call of the cargo. Attempting to reconcile their existing beliefs with the new understanding of the outside world led to some strange interpretations which evolved into a bizarre narrative about a dark-skinned soldier-deity who resides inside a nearby volcano, and who many believe will one day return, showering them in riches and technology.
Stay tuned for more info and music from John Frum. Read an in-depth account of John Frum Day via The Smithsonian Magazine HERE.
