ALKALINE TRIO SHARE TITLE TRACK FROM NEW ALBUM ‘IS THIS THING CURSED?’

BAND’S FIRST STUDIO RECORD IN 5 YEARS DUE OUT AUGUST 31

TOUR BEGINS TONIGHT IN ST. LOUIS

Legendary Chicago punk band Alkaline Trio have released the title track from their forthcoming album Is This Thing Cursed? The ninth studio album from Alkaline Trio, Is This Thing Cursed? is their first new music in five years.

Watch the lyric video for “Is This Thing Cursed?” by Alkaline Trio:

With its soaring vocals and furious intensity, “Is This Thing Cursed?” is the second single to be released from Is This Thing Cursed? Last month Alkaline Trio shared a song called “Blackbird,” which SPIN hailed as a “glossy, pristine pop-punk record that’s anthemic and a bit catchy in its breezy melodies.”

Produced and mixed by Cameron Webb (Pennywise, Motörhead), Is This Thing Cursed? is the first Alkaline Trio album written almost entirely in the studio. According to the band, the album-making process was similar to that of Maybe I’ll Catch Fire—Alkaline Trio’s darkly charged sophomore full-length, a 2000 release featuring the fan favorite “Radio.”

Due out on CD/digital on August 31, Is This Thing Cursed? will be released on vinyl on October 19. Pre-orders are available now at: http://www.alkalinetrio.com

Krista Papista – Sultana (Probably NSFW)

This runs a bit outside the vein of my normal posts, and I’m not entirely sure what to make of this, but it is compelling in a way. I figure there’s always room at the table for things I’m not accustomed to.

Have a look/listen and decide for yourself.

Sordid pop punk artist Krista Papista has just released the visuals for her new single, taking aim at a culture steeped in patriarchal archaism.

The track is the lead single and title-track from her forthcoming, self-produced album which will be released this September. Whilst building up to the release Krista has built a solid social following and caught the attention of i-D, Crack, Wonderland and The Line of Best Fit.

WEAK13 music video featuring FONZi NeuTRON

Underground British band rock WEAK13 shocked many of their supporters due to a surprise collaboration with top Birmingham hip hop artist FONZi NeuTRON. A music video for a song titled “Frequency” emerged on the official Facebook and YouTube channel for rapper FONZi NeuTRON which reveals WEAK13 frontman & guitarist Nick J Townsend and Bassist Wesley Smith performing with him. The song which has a very underground 90’s feel has already gone down well with hip hop audiences and this seems to confirm that WEAK13 have no plans on staying quiet whilst they write the follow up to their well recieved debut album ‘They Live’ .

Earlier this year WEAK13 surprised their audiences again by revealing a love for British band Depeche Mode after releasing the Halo single; a rock fueled cover of the classic tune which first appeared on the 1990 Violater album. The single which is now available in Europe, Asia and the UK on Spotify, Amazon and iTunes sparked much debate on the internet with fans from both camps argueing with each other. Whilst some Depeche Mode fans appreciated how WEAK13 had made Halo “their own song” as it was recorded in their style whilst simultaneously saluting the original; others objected to the heavier take on it. WEAK13 themselves of course were happy with the controversy caused by their version of the tune.

WEAK13 are still writing and recording their second album but many fans are enjoying the surprise cover releases and collaborations that are emerging whilst they await it. Rumours are circulating of future cover versions by WEAK13 of established songs. For more info on WEAK13 go to weak13official.com

FRAUDS Address Lack of Societal Empathy in ‘Sandwiches’ Video

Debut Album With Morning Toast & Jam & Juice
Released 8th December 2017 via Till Deaf Do Us Party Records

Croydon based duo FRAUDS are pleased to reveal the video for their new single ‘Sandwiches’, the latest track to be taken from their debut album With Morning Toast & Jam & Juice set for release on Till Deaf Do Us Party Records on 8th December 2017.

Directed by visual artist David Sagberg, who also worked on the band’s video for ‘Suck Jobs’ video and a recent project for London rockers Vodun, the video was shot in the communal garden of a group of warehouses near Seven Sisters – politically outspoken as ever, the video sees the pair taking on the roles of a privileged fox and an downtrodden pigeon, in a short story about societal division.

Commenting on the track, the band said: “The song is a metaphor for and commentary on the divide and misunderstanding we seem to have grown accustomed to, a new world where empathy is a weakness and charity a waste of our resources.”

Available to preorder now on limited edition 12” vinyl, each copy of the debut album is a genuine one-off, coming with an individual instax photograph of Frauds, personally taken and hand-fixed onto each cover by the band. This run is never to be repressed with this artwork on reclaimed vinyl format, so every single record is completely unique.

Rapidly making their way around the circuit in London and beyond with the likes of Jamie Lenman and Future of The Left, they’ve also played with some of the underground’s most exciting names including Idles, Life, HMLTD, Tigercub, St Pierre Snake Invasion, Demob Happy, Kagoule, USA Nails, Slaves, Blacklisters, Queen Kwong, Youth Man and God Damn.

Turning heads and taking names at the likes of The Independent, Loud & Quiet, NME and The Needle Drop with their own particular brand of ear-battering, eye-gouging visceral punk n’ roll, this two piece have reignited a creative fire that’s burning more intensely than ever.

It’s angry, but it’s fun. It’s satirical, but it’s ridiculous. The only thing you can be sure about is that they’re heavy as fuck and they’re not gonna take it anymore.

Frauds’ debut album With Morning Toast & Jam & Juice is released 8thDecember 2017 via Till Deaf Do Us Party Records

02.12.17 – Mother’s Ruin – Bristol (10 Year Anniversary Show)
07.12.17 – The Waiting Room – London (album release show)
20.01.18 – The Green Door Store – Brighton (Gruesome Twosomes All-dayer)

THE MENZINGERS SHARE VIDEO FOR “AFTER THE PARTY”

PHILADELPHIA PUNK BAND NOW ON NATIONAL HEADLINE TOUR

Today marks the premiere of the video for “After the Party,” the title track from The Menzingers’ latest album. The Philadelphia punk band’s fifth full-length, After the Party was released last month to much critical acclaim.

Directed by Kyle Thrash, “After the Party” unfolds as a frenetic short film following a young couple through Dairy Queen parking lots, trashed apartments, house parties, motel rooms, pool halls, and rooftops. The video’s gritty yet romantic sensibility perfectly captures the spirit of the song—a bittersweet anthem that Menzingers singer/guitarist Greg Barnett has described as “mundane moments etched behind eyelids that culminate into meaningful realizations, and of course give way to the beautiful trifecta of Sex! Drugs! Rock n Roll!”

Watch the video for “After the Party” here:

Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Balance & Composure, Pianos Become the Teeth), After the Party offers a raw yet nuanced look at getting older but not quite growing up. In a five-star review, Blurt praised the album as “one of the best punk records you’ll hear this year.” Also hailing After the Party as the band’s best album to date, Blurt noted that The Menzingers “have been progressively growing from their fiery, aggressive earlier years into something more reflective and introspective, while never compromising energy or attitude.”
